3. Material Composition and Product Construction

Material composition:

  • 50 % polypropylene

  • 50 % cotton

Fabric mass per unit area:
180 g/m²

Fabric construction:
Two-layer knitted structure

  • Inner layer (skin contact): polypropylene –     moisture transport layer

  • Outer layer: cotton – thermal insulation     and tactile comfort

Polypropylene fibres provide moisture transport and thermal stability.
Cotton fibres provide thermal insulation and tactile comfort.
Each material component fulfils a defined functional role within the product and is traceable to its respective origin.

➡️ The two-layer construction contributes to increased mechanical durability and long-term stability of functional performance.

4. Functional Finishing: Antibacterial and Antiviral Properties

Type of finishing:
Antibacterial and antiviral finishing based on biogenic silver ions

Verified performance according to harmonised or internationally recognised standards:

Antiviral activity:

  • Standard: ISO 18184:2019

  • Test organism: Influenza A virus subtype H1N1

  • Viral activity reduction: 99.17 %

Antibacterial activity:

  • Standard: AATCC TM 100:2012

    • Klebsiella pneumoniae

    • Staphylococcus aureus

  • Standard: ASTM E2149-13a

    • Escherichia coli

The effect lasts throughout the expected lifetime of the product.

The antimicrobial and antiviral functionality is permanently integrated into the polymer matrix of the Prolen® Siltex fibre, ensuring consistent activity throughout the product’s service life.
This treatment reduces microbial growth responsible for odour formation and is applied in compliance with EU textile and chemical regulations.
The fibre is not classified as a biocidal product under Regulation (EU) No 528/2012 legislation.

5. Functional Performance During Use

  • Body-fitting cut that does not compress the body

  • Seams that do not cause chafing or pressure marks, without     flat seams

  • Thermoregulation and efficient moisture transport

  • Reflective NIIN logo for enhanced user visibility

  • Intended for use in sport, outdoor activities, occupational     environments and multi-day wear

6. Durability, Repair, and Care

Legal warranty period:
24 months

Expected service life under normal use conditions:
5–7 years

Factors potentially reducing service life:

  • tumble drying

  • use of fabric softeners

  • intensive mechanical abrasion

Repairability:

The product is designed to allow basic textile repairs, including seam stitching and local fabric reinforcement, without compromising functional performance.
No specialised tools or proprietary components are required for basic repairs.

Recommended care conditions:

  • machine wash at 40 °C

  • do not use fabric softener

  • do not tumble dry

  • air drying preferred

  • do not iron

  • keep away from open flame

➡️ Extending the duration of product use represents the most significant environmental benefit.

7. End-of-Life Management and Recycling

  • Repair is recommended in case of localised damage

  • Re-use through donation or second-hand channels

  • Material recycling: the fibre blend can be processed into     secondary products such as insulation or filling materials     (downcycling)

  • Closed-loop recycling back into equivalent textile products  is currently not available at industrial scale

  • Advanced chemical or enzymatic separation technologies exist at pilot level only

8. Environmental Performance Indicators (Indicative)

Carbon footprint:
approximately 6.5 kg CO₂e per product unit

Water consumption:
approximately 1950–2100 litres per product unit

Values are indicative estimates based on internal calculations and current industry data.

Environmental impact values are indicative estimates based on internal calculations using industry-average data.
The methodology will be aligned with the EU Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) framework once textile-specific rules are finalised.

9. Compliance and Transparency Summary

The product does not contain substances of very high concern (SVHC) above 0.1 % (w/w) as defined under Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 (REACH).

This product:

  • is placed on the market in compliance with EU legislation

  • is manufactured predominantly within the EU

  • is designed for durability and extended use
